TRAFFIC TRAILER & BUS CRASH KILLS 10

It was reported in USA Today – The Journal News that a bus full of high school students were on a recruiting trip was struck by a Fed Ex tractor trailer as it roared across Interstate 5, North of Sacramento, California. The tractor trailer crossed a grassy median slamming into a charter bus creating an inferno that left ten people dead and dozens injured. The Fed-Ex Truck veered across two lanes of southbound I 5 and plowed through the divide and sideswiped a northbound vehicle before hitting the coach bus in the slow lane.
After the fiery crash, 40 students on the bus escaped through a window which one of the students kicked open before the bus exploded. The bus passengers were mostly high school seniors on their way to visit Humboldt State University in Arcata, California. The crash killed 5 students, 3 chaperones and the drivers of both vehicles. 34 other bus passengers suffered injuries.
Investigators tried to find possible causes for the crash including whether the Fed Ex driver fell asleep, was distracted, mechanical failure or just lost control after the collision with another vehicle. As a result of the impact with the bus and the intense fire, identities of some of the victims would not be known for over a week.
